Sometimes the rewards we seek are difficult, complex, or indirect. These rewards could be pursuing a career, running a marathon, making close-friends, etc. While it is possible that someone could attempt these goals on a whim, and while a complete idiot is not to be trifled with, i.e., Forrest Gump, we still need to believe what we are doing is correct and have an unwavering belief that we can do it.
Most people will understand that they need to make some level of sacrifice, i.e., time invested, not being able to do other things, etc. Probably, you will need to justify, to yourself, why pursuing these goals are even worth it. And, even after we decide that these goals are worth it, nothing will make you feel more like a 4th grader studying for an electrical engineering exam than trying something difficult outside of your comfort zone.
It helps to make an outline of the goals you want to complete and how you plan to begin and complete them. More than likely, you will create a few milestones, estimate how long you think they will take, and how much effort you want to put in.
